Dear Chalice Congregant,

I was asked recently what Chalice means to me. I didn’t have to think about it. My response was “Chalice is my happy place.” I feel good when I am here. It keeps me grounded despite the tumult in my life, our country, and in our world. It is a place I turn to for spiritual nourishment and where I can be in community with others sharing joy, hope, laughter, and sometimes tears. Our pledge drive theme, Together, A Force for Good, reminds us that when we join together, we are stronger, more resilient, and capable of creating positive changes in our local communities.

Although our annual Fall auction is a successful fundraiser and we receive income from rentals of our Hub and Chapel, annual pledging remains the foundation of our budget income. Our primary expense remains our wonderful staff, and your contributions will show our support for them by providing important cost of living increases. We also plan to care for our Chalice home by implementing a maintenance plan for our buildings and grounds. Costs go up every year, so every year it takes a little bit more to balance our budget.

I would like to ask you to consider your support through making a pledge commitment to Chalice. Your pledge is a valuable investment in our shared values, and it enables us to continue fostering our community through programs such as our children’s Religious Education and our Music Ministry.

Your annual pledge is one of the ways we offer a tangible commitment to our values. By letting Chalice know how much you are willing to support for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, we can plan and budget effectively. You can pay your pledge in one sum or set up monthly or quarterly payments.

No matter your choice, I am grateful to have you as part of this Unitarian Universalist community we all love.

Blessings to you,

Lara Brown
